Story

The schooner Summer Wind is owned and operated by American Sailing Tours in Baltimore, MD during the months of April through October. Based on Tom Colvin’s Gazelle, she is Junk-rigged and carries 6 passengers and 2 or 3 crew for daysails and private charters. She sails in Baltimore up to 6 times each day and charters to the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay. Education programs for the public include a History Sail on the maritime history of Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay. The intern program includes live-aboard positions covering seamanship, helmsmanship, navigation and ship maintenance.
