Story

Scrimshaw was built in 1947 and launched in 1960. Prior to being donated to Maritime Museum of San Diego she was an active vessel in the Ancient Mariner’s Sailing Society, a regional organization created to preserve and promote interest in vessels of ancient and/or classic design. The AMSS fleet comprises a “Living Museum” of boats in service which are well loved and cared for, and which are shown and raced together on a regular basis.
