Story
Mystic Whaler is a gaff-rigged schooner owned and operated by Central Coast Ocean Adventures (CCOA). Launched in 1967 the ship spent her first 25 years operating in the northeast. In 2021 she was purchased and relocated to Southern California by CCOA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to making engaging adventure-inspired learning and the extraordinary Santa Barbara Channel more accessible to the communities of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. CCOA’s programs focus on social-emotional development, environmental responsibility, nautical skills training, and enriching STEAM and history education, primarily for youth ages 10 – 18 years old. Programs range from dockside to multi-day voyages and are offered to schools, community-based organizations, families, and the public. Mystic Whaler is also available for fundraising events, adult multi-day charters, corporate team-building retreats, and public education sails.
