Story

Winner of the Tall Ships 2000® transatlantic race from Halifax to Amsterdam. Brilliant is the traveling ambassador of Mystic Seaport, our nation’s leading maritime museum.  Since 1953, Brilliant has sailed the equivalent in nautical miles of five times around the earth with more than 11,000 students setting her sails and steering her course. Caring for this significant vessel and keeping maritime skills alive help Mystic Seaport Museum fulfill its mission as the Museum of America and the Sea.  Brilliant has two other Tall Ships America awards to her credit: “First in Class” in the 2000 Boston to Halifax race and “Sail Training Vessel of the Year” in 1996. She also won the 1997 Nantucket Lighthouse Opera Cup.
