Tall Ships America acknowledges that the North American land and water on which the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® events take place are the traditional homelands to hundreds of Indigenous groups. European settlement and conquest of North America was predated by millennia of Indigenous stewardship, and we encourage visitors to consider that when attending port events and to support their local Indigenous groups. Some of the Indigenous confederacies, nations, tribes, and communities that dwelt in this year’s TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® ports and waterways are:

Brockville, ON: Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Wendake-Nionwentsïo

Cleveland, OH: Kaskaskia, Erie, Mississauga

Midland, ON: Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Anishinabewaki, Mississauga, Wendake-Nionwentsïo

Two Harbors, MN: Anishinabewaki

Erie, PA: Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Erie, Mississauga
