For decades resource management training has improved the communication, teamwork, and situational skills of individuals across the transportation sector. Flying and floating vessels, in particular, have largely become safer as a result. One thing remains constant, however: Not all people are going to get along, and handling interpersonal conflicts can test even the most seasoned mariner or cloud judgment in critical situations.
Drawing on practices and real world examples from the Tall Ship adjacent fields of commercial aviation and unlimited tonnage shipping, this session will discuss near-misses and incidents in which personalities played a role, as well as highlighting practices for managing vertically through the chain of command. Participants will also be invited to workshop past or hypothetical conflict scenarios with guidance from the panelists.
