About RISE
RISE is a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. Overview
RISE will facilitate in-person workshops at three (3) Tall Ships ‘Community Muster events across the country. A trained RISE facilitator will lead the sessions for approximately 10 – 40 participants at each location. Sessions will be coordinated with points of contact at the local event locations. Each workshop will be 3 hours in length and cover the topics of Identity and Emotional Intelligence:
- Understanding Our Identities– Participants reflect on the labels they use to define themselves and discuss why they do so. They are also challenged to consider the multifaceted nature of their identities, and which labels hold more importance to them. Finally, they have the opportunity to share their labels with others and discuss the importance of diversity.
- Emotional Intelligence-This module builds on your current knowledge base, equipping participants with strategies to better understand, regulate, and utilize emotions in professional settings. The focus will be on self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal effectiveness—core skills that support inclusive leadership and collaborative teamwork.
