  • Job Description:

    The Schooner Ernestina Morrissey is seeking 3 qualified applicants for the position of Deckhand for the 2022 summer sailing season.

    The Deckhands assist in the ship’s operations and training / education of the cadets.  The Schooner Ernestina Morrissey is owned by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and operated by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy as a USCG inspected Sailing School Vessel (Subchapter R) and a Small Passenger Vessel (Subchapter T) home ported in New Bedford, MA.  The vessel’s GRT is greater than 100 tons.  The first part of the sailing season all crew will be assisting in the outfitting of the vessel for USCG COI Inspection. After the completion of the COI the vessel will be sailing to the Gulf Coast for the Tall Ships America Gulf Coast tour. Returning to New Bedford in May.

  • Program & Itinerary:

    We will be sailing to the Gulf Coast this spring for the tall ship events in St. Pete, Galveston and Pensacola.

  • Qualifications/Experience:

    All crew will be required to follow Covid-19 health and safety guidelines as set by Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Vaccination for Covid-19 is required.

  • Compensation & Benefits:

    This position pay around $2,200 a month and is a live aboard position. Also, if crew sign up for next sailing season the Academy may consider helping with certifications.
