Job Description: Able Seafarer SSV OLIVER HAZARD PERRY
Reports to: Chief Mate/Mate of the Watch (Operations) and Educational Programs Manager (Program)
Able Seafarers aboard the SSV OLIVER HAZARD PERRY are directly responsible for supporting the operations of the ship and the organization through Deck Department watch standing, vessel maintenance, and delivery of OHPRI’s educational programming. Individuals serving as Able Seafarers aboard should expect to work outdoors, aloft, in both daytime and night, while being responsible for trainees and participants assigned to them. All crew members aboard the OHP are also expected to become familiar with basic engine room procedures and if desired can elect to train as a member of the Engine Department. This position can lead to full time employment

- Program & Itinerary:
Coastwise voyages ranging in duration from single day to multiple weeks. Dockside programming focusing on career entry in the Maritime Industry and Marine Trades as well as STEAM.
- Qualifications/Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
USCG MMC as Able Seaman Sail
One year of experience on traditional sailing vessels
Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
Preferred Qualifications:
USCG License 200GRT or higher
STCW Basic Training
- Compensation: $600 to $800 Week
